While Myrcella's still alive in the books, her death in the show is crucial as Maggy the frogs prophecy to Cersei about her children dying is coming true, and what makes Myrcella's death, and eventually Tommen's death, sadder is that it's all Cersei's fault because Cersei had Obyren killed by having the Mountain as her champion just so she can kill Tyrion and Cersei restored the Faith Militant and Tommen can't do anything or else there will be a massacre and Margaery will get killed and he has become so depressed he's starving himself to death. And lets not forget Joffery since she raised him to be a monster and made him so hated Olenna had him killed to protect Margaery.

And Jaime will know Cersei is to blame for her idiocy, jealousy and selfishness. To me Maggy's future could have been changed if Cersei let go of pride and lust for power, and when Ned told her to leave with her children, she could have moved them to Dorne and Jaime could have lived with them and have a happy family.
